TWO JOHNSON COUNTY WOMEN CHOSEN FOR PRESTIGIOUS LUGAR SERIES

Greenwood Councilwoman & Development Corporation Member Both Among Group

 

INDIANAPOLIS – The Richard G. Lugar Excellence in Public Service Series announced that 2 Johnson County women –Linda Gibson and Beenu Sikand – have been selected as members of its historic 25th Anniversary Class of 2014-2105. They join a group of 25 women from around the state to participate in the annual women’s leadership development program.

Beenu Sikand (Member, Johnson County Development Corporation)

Beenu Sikand is an Alumni Board Member of the University of Indianapolis and Board Member of the Johnson County Development Corporation. She is also a Realtor with Berkshire Hathaway Realty Group in Indianapolis where she specializes in residential real estate.

 

In 2005, Sikand was ranked the #2 realtor in sales in Indiana and Ohio with Century 21. According to the Indianapolis Business Journal, she was ranked 4th in real estate sales in Indianapolis as an All-Star Solo Agent. She has received countless awards and nominations recognizing her excellence in this field. She also received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2009 from the University of Indianapolis for her contribution towards her community and for excellence in her field.

 

Sikand said, “I look forward to learning more about the role of women in American leadership.”

 

 

About the Richard G. Lugar Excellence in Public Service Series

The Richard G. Lugar Excellence in Public Service Series was founded in 1990 as a women’s leadership development program designed to increase the number of Republican women in local, state and national elective and appointive offices. Inspired by former Indiana Senator Richard G. Lugar, the program has trained 441 Hoosier women in 24 classes to enter public service. The Lugar Series led to the creation of a national series of programs which have trained more than 2,000 women from across the nation.

 

The Richard G. Lugar Excellence in Public Service Series is a not-for profit organization funded and operated by the voluntary contributions of individuals and organizations.
